WHAT IS PACT?
The Chief Constable is introducing throughout Lancashire a new way of ensuring that community problems are identified and tackled. In essence, it is proposed that in each Ward area, a representative group of people is formed who will meet to prioritise and monitor activities in the area. This group may include people such as: · Residents ( and resident associations) · Councillors · Faith Leaders · Police Community Beat Managers · Police Community Support Officers · Housing Officials · Local Business Owners · Youth Organisations / Workers
The group will prioritise and monitor activities towards solving problems that are raised by the community. The Police will be required to report back to monthly meetings and show what has been done to improve things or explain why activities could not take place. These priorities will form the basis of what your Community Police Staff will do and it gives the public a direct say on Policing in the area. In addition it is anticipated that partnerships will be formed to contribute to the solutions. |

Welcome to the Preston Neighbourhood Watch Association PACT website
Dear Residents
Lancashire Constabulary is committed to providing a quality service, and key to achieving this objective is effective communication. I am therefore grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the Preston Neighbourhood Watch website, recognising that through this medium I am able to keep you informed about what the Constabulary is doing across the City of Preston.
P.A.C.T. (Police and Communities Together) has now been running across Preston for over two years and remains a valuable means of ensuring that residents are able to contact their local policing teams, at least once a month, and let them know what crime and disorder issues matter most to them in their locality. The regularity of these meetings means that residents can be kept up to date on progress in dealing with the issues raised.
Such is the success of this approach that communities and our partners remain committed to regular attendance, and determined to address the issues raised through creative co-operation and diligent problem solving.
The information on this website is regularly updated by volunteers from Preston Neighbourhood Watch. This is an excellent way of keeping informed about what is going on, as it contains regular newsletters from your Neighbourhood Policing teams, P.A.C.T. minutes, contact details, crime and disorder trends and alerts. I therefore encourage you to make regular use of this site. I can then keep you informed about developments in your local Policing service, and ensure that Central Division remain responsive to local priorities, thereby providing the quality Policing service you expect and deserve.
