WHAT IS PACT?

The Chief Constable is introducing throughout Lancashire a new way of ensuring that community problems are identified and tackled.

In essence, it is proposed that in each Ward area, a representative group of people is formed who will meet to prioritise and monitor activities in the area.

This group may include people such as:

· Residents ( and resident associations)

· Councillors

· Faith Leaders

· Police Community Beat Managers

· Police Community Support Officers

· Housing Officials

· Local Business Owners

· Youth Organisations / Workers

The group will prioritise and monitor activities towards solving problems that are raised by the community. The Police will be required to report back to monthly meetings and show what has been done to improve things or explain why activities could not take place.

These priorities will form the basis of what your Community Police Staff will do and it gives the public a direct say on Policing in the area. In addition it is anticipated that partnerships will be formed to contribute to the solutions.

Welcome to the Preston Neighbourhood  Watch

Association PACT website

Dear Residents

Having taken over the Community Safety and Partnership Portfolio for the Police in Preston I am very keen to demonstrate our continued support for this valuable site.  The efforts put in by volunteers in the Neighbourhood Watch Community are clearly visible and it is an excellent way of keeping informed about what is going on in your community as it contains regular newsletters from your Neighbourhood Policing teams, P.A.C.T. minutes, contact details, crime and disorder trends and alerts. It is a quick way to access lots of information about your neighbourhood and I would encourage everyone to check it regularly.

Lancashire Constabulary remains committed to the principles of Neighbourhood Policing and we aim to deal with the concerns of local communities about Crime and Disorder at a local level in partnership with other agencies and the public using sustainable problem solving solutions.  The content of this site allows everybody who lives, works or visits Preston to check that the priorities represent their own concerns and if not where they can go to influence them in the future.

The Lancashire Constabulary is committed to providing a quality service, and in order to ensure that this is achieved we must ensure that we take notice of what is said, but also feed back what is done to address those concerns. We will aim to ensure that the information contained within this website does this in a timely and accurate manner.

P.A.C.T. (Police and Communities Together) has now been running across Preston for over four years and remains a valuable means of ensuring that residents are able to contact their local policing teams, on a regular basis, and let them know what crime and disorder issues matter most to them in their locality. The regularity of these meetings means that residents can be kept up to date on progress in dealing with the issues raised. If you have any concerns about issues in your area please visit the PACT meeting and have your say.
